A handle that always reaches whoever’s on
Give a rotation its own handle, like @weekend-support, and Shiftly keeps it holding whoever’s on right now. When nobody is, it reaches the rotation’s managers, so a message never goes nowhere.
Shiftly for Slack
Ping whoever’s on with one handle, see the schedule from any channel, and get reminded before your turn, right where your team already talks. For any rota: on-call, support, weekend shifts, or the office kitchen.

Type /shiftly in any channel to see who’s assigned there, or mention @Shiftly support to ping whoever’s on Support without knowing who that is. Closing for the holidays? /shiftly pause support gives it a break, once or every year, and /shiftly resume brings it back.
Connect a rotation to a channel and it says who’s on each time a turn starts. Turn on the topic, and the channel’s topic always shows who’s on too.
The turn you’re on, your next ones, open turns you could pick up in one click, who’s assigned across your rotations, and your time off, which you can book without leaving Slack.
A DM before your turn starts, with Can’t make it? to ask teammates to cover it, and a heads-up when your schedule changes, saying why. Whoever takes it first is on it. Everyone chooses what they hear about.
Point a Shiftly group at a Slack user group, and someone joining @eng in Slack joins every rotation drawing on it. Nothing to keep in step by hand.
Getting started
Click Add to Slack and approve Shiftly for your workspace. On Enterprise Grid, an org admin can add it to the whole org.
Build your rotations in Shiftly: who takes turns, and when. Everyone in the workspace can join from Slack the first time they open Shiftly there.
Connect a rotation to a channel with /shiftly, or give it a handle, from the rotation’s settings.
Permissions
Each permission is for one feature you can see. Shiftly never reads your conversations. Our privacy policy says what it stores and for how long.
@Shiftly support with whoever’s on Support./shiftly: who’s assigned, and your turns.@weekend-support, holding whoever’s on.FAQ
Yes, everything except handles: Slack keeps user groups for its paid plans, so @weekend-support needs one. /shiftly, mentions, channels, the Home tab and DMs all work on any plan.
Yes. Someone who’s allowed to manage user groups, usually a Slack admin, lets Shiftly use their access for that alone. Shiftly offers the link where it’s needed, only ever changes the user groups your rotations use, and they can take it back at any time.
Yes. An org admin can add Shiftly to the whole Grid org and choose which workspaces get it. People are the same person in Shiftly whichever of the org’s workspaces they use it from.
No. Shiftly sees only the messages that mention it and the /shiftly commands sent to it, and only to answer them. It can’t read anything else in your workspace.
Shiftly only posts in a channel when someone asks it to: a rotation’s connected channel, a thread where it was mentioned, or /shiftly’s answer when you choose to share it. Otherwise /shiftly answers only you, and the rest comes by DM.
From your organization’s settings in Shiftly, or from Slack’s app management. Shiftly stops at once, and deletes your workspace’s Slack data 14 days later, unless you add it back before then.
